DOMAIN NAMES

There are many types of domain names available, and it can sometimes be confusing as to the best name to register.

Always register the country domain first eg .com.au, this is because the .au means its an Australian registered domain, and most users will automatically add an .au when typing in an address. If your company name is not available as .com.au, look at other means of spelling to achieve the end result, but one of the most important things is keep the name short.

Trading internationally or want to safeguard your name? The .com is the way to go. If possible register the .com.au at the same time if you are an Australian company, and point the two names to the same address.

There are other names you can choose, such as .net, mostly this is used in the IT industry, and is not as widely reconised as .com or .com.au. The .org name is reserved for charity type businesses and not available to general business. There are also other names such as .info, and .biz, these names are not user friendly, and we can register them for you, but they are not popular as far as people automatically entering them into a browser. Our advise is alway go with the standard names.
